A significant proportion of clients who come to Scalp Clinic for scalp micropigmentation have used the hair loss drug Propecia at some point in their lives. A recent study into the sexual side effects experienced by some Propecia users, has revealed an unexpected benefit – a reduced desire to drink alcohol.

alcoholism

In a staggering finding, two thirds of men taking Propecia who participated in the study reported a drop in their alcohol consumption, and their inclination to drink alcohol in general. This is an unexpected, but not unwelcome side effect that the researchers did not anticipate.

Whilst Propecia with its active ingredient finasteride is likely to remain a hair loss remedy first and foremost, with millions of men around the world suffering with alcohol-related addiction, perhaps Propecia will open new opportunities for treatment in the future.
